LOAN (ILL)If
the Albizu Library does not own the book or journal you need, the
library can obtain books, journal articles, some thesis and dissertations,
and government documents from most libraries in the United States,
Europe, and Canada.

- Tips for correctly completing an ILL Request Form.
1. Provide all personal information, including telephone
numbers. This information will be strictly confidential.
2. Complete citation (book, journal, article titles, author(s),
dates, pages). This will expedite processing.
3. Provide ISBN number for books published after 1970 and
ISSN number for journals and magazines; they help to expedite processing. If
you cannot provide this information, please finish the ILL Request
Form with all other areas completed. Thank you for helping us to
process your request faster!
-Please note: Illegible or incomplete forms may be returned without
being processed, so please print the information clearly.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.
Q: Who can use ILL? A: Carlos Albizu University faculty, staff, and currently enrolled
students.
Q: What type of material is available through ILL? A: Books, photocopied articles, some theses and dissertations,
and government documents.
Q: What type of material may be unavailable or difficult to borrow? A: Computer Software, entire issues of journals, reference books,
rare books, manuscripts, audiovisual material and musical scores.
Q: Is there a cost for using ILL? A: There is a $2.00 fee for each request.
Q: How long does it take to receive material? A: Please allow approximately two weeks for your material to arrive.
The time involved in receiving material depends upon the accuracy
of your citation, the availability of the material, and the location
of the lending library.
Q: Is there a limit to the number of requests I may submit? A: You may submit as many requests at one time as you wish. At
least five requests pperson will be processed per week. You may
prioritize your request in the order you
wish to receive them.
Q: How do I submit a request? A: Complete the provided form in the inside of this brochure. Requests
may not be faxed.
Q: How do I know that my materials have arrived? A: We do not call to notify when material has arrived, so please
call or ask the library circulation clerk. All material
will be held at the circulation area. Materials may be
picked up at any time the library is open.
1. All books borrowed on interlibrary loan
are restricted and are prohibited to circulate. They are to be used in the Albizu
Library only! The library will return the book directly to
the lending library on or before its return due date.
2. Carlos Albizu University’s Alumni are permitted to use
the ILL, but will be responsible for all cost accrued in the transaction
of the materials requested. A library staff member will notify
Alumni prior to processing their Interlibrary Loan request of the
amount required. These fees must be paid before official processing
will continue.
3. Before submitting an ILL request, verify that our library does
not own the material in “Athena.”
Requests for material owned by our library will
not be processed. In
the event of this occurring, the $2.00 fee will not be reimbursed.
