Cugnetto, Marilyn, Ph.D. Assistant Professor, Psy.D. Program Doctoral Program Department
Marilyn L. Cugnetto received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology from the University of Miami. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Miami Veterans Administration Healthcare System and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Throughout her graduate training and specifically during her internship and fellowship years, Dr. Cugnetto received a specialization in Behavioral Medicine. Her masterís thesis and doctoral dissertation furthered knowledge regarding the current obesity epidemic and the metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents. Dr. Cugnetto is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Florida.
After her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Cugnetto received specialty training in the Cognitive-Behavioral treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and related conditions, and became the Associate Director of Clinical Research at NeuroBehavioral Institute (NBI) in Weston, FL. At NBI, Dr. Cugnetto provides clinical services to children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed with OCD, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, working memory deficits (particularly children, teenagers and adults with attention-deficit (hyperactivity) disorder), and autism spectrum disorders. Along with her colleagues at NBI, she has facilitated support groups for children and adults with OCD and Touretteís Disorder. She has attended the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundationís Behavior Therapy Training Institute and has been trained as a provider for the Cogmed Working Memory Training Program. Aside from her clinical duties at NBI, Dr. Cugnetto collaborates with her colleagues in developing and executing research projects, and applying and preparing presentations for local and national conferences. Dr. Cugnetto has also presented and published her research in the area of Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Cugnetto is an Assistant Professor in the Doctoral Program at Carlos Albizu University (CAU), and the IRB Administrator for the CAUís Miami campus. She is appointed to the Health Psychology concentration.
