Bravo, Irene M., Ph.D. Professor, Child Psychology Concentration Coordinator, Psy.D. Program Doctoral Program Department
My research interests are focused on both developmental and clinical issues. My previous areas of research interest included culturally influenced infant feeding practices and pre-adolescent eating disorders; prevention of internalizing or externalizing problems in adolescence, and predictors of hypochondriacal concerns in older adults.
Currently, my Teaching Responsible Behaviors to Adolescents (TRBA) prevention program is offered at CAU’s Goodman Psychological Services Center. The program is based on elements of evidence-based treatments. Using a multi-modal format, the TRBA program includes preventive strategies in parenting skills, individual, group and family therapy. Ongoing research activities include culturally influenced pre-natal care practices, a review of childhood anxiety problems, the development of a parenting scale for parents of adolescents, and an explanatory model to facilitate psychotherapy in couples with infidelity problems.
